The student engineer will be expected to work during the summer months on a full time basis with our Operations-Technical Services team at our DeForest facility.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Complete assigned technical tasks in a timely and professional fashion under the guidance of a more experienced engineer.
- Data analysis to support technical decisions.
- Support new equipment selection and installation.
- Prepare Technical Documentation – Writing Equipment Specifications, Drawings, Preventative Maintenance, Testing Protocols.
- Complete Technical Studies – Line optimization and productivity projects.
- Work closely with maintenance on and on large rebuild projects.
- Industrial Engineer able to work in a fast-growing foods plant environment.
- Discipline: Industrial Engineering.
- Year of Study: 1st to 4th
- 2D/3D AutoCAD light drafting.
- Works well with others and enjoys a strong family orientated company.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Enjoys rolling up their sleeve and working hands on.
A successful student engineer will be able to pull together data, ideas issues and observations into a clear, useful format that will allow him or her to execute duties in a timely and efficient manner for the betterment of the company. The student will be expected to communicate and interact with different levels of the company to help continue to move forward stage gate process.

Safe Quality Foods –
All staff are responsible to report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. In the event key personnel responsible for this role are unavailable, an appropriately trained backup has been assigned to cover the duties to ensure the integrity of the SQF System.
Skills and Abilities
Language Skills –
Must possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret business and technical documents, flow charts, budget information, procedure manuals and so on; the ability to prepare required routine reports and correspondence; ability to communicate effectively with others, using skill and diplomacy and have the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
Mathematical Skills –
Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using whole numbers/decimals and the ability to apply concepts of business math and statistics to practical situations.
Reasoning Abilities –
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram format. Must possess strong knowledge, understanding and experience in various problem-solving and participatory management techniques.
Technical Abilities –
Must possess knowledge and experience in automated systems and terminology and the ability to develop and interpret related reports using ERP, spreadsheet, word processing and graphics software. Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and keyboard, a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier and so on.
